Rising Indus River Triggers Evacuations Near Bakhri Zero Point: 21 Rescued from Flood-Affected Areas

Due to the continuous rise in the water level of the Indus River, pressure on the protective embankment at Bakhri Zero Point has started to increase.

Following the flood alert, the process of rescuing flood-affected people from the riverine (Katcha) area near Bakhri Zero Point is underway on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Naushahro Feroze, Muhammad Arsalan Saleem.

The Rescue Naushahro Feroze team rescued 21 people from the riverine area near Village Fatah Ali Jatoi at the Bakhri Zero Point on the Indus River.

Among them were 17 men and 4 women.

The rescue team also moved residents from several areas along with their belongings to safer, solid-ground (Pakka) locations.

On this occasion, irrigation department officials and the administration said that the flow of water in the Indus River is increasing, and the residents of Bakhri, Kamaldairo, and Papri in the riverine areas should immediately move to safe places on higher ground to avoid loss of life and property.
